The only problem I have with it is the strings are very close to the C. Jan 16, 2009 You apparently have a new Marlin Model 1895 that was manufactured in 1973. The early Model 1895's had the 'B' serial number prefix up to 1977, when they went to the other system of serializing where you subtract the first two digits from 100. The JM you mention is the proof mark applied to all Marlin rifles. Marlin Model 336 and Models 39-A and 39-M manufactured from 1948 to 1968: A one or two letter code was used to designate the year of manufacture. I very carefully removed the back of the guitar and looked at the pickup but I can't see any way to adjust the height except to install some kind of spacer under the bridge. So this is a beautiful piece with a lot of history, and it was part of the batch of special white-finished instruments provided by Gibson which Roy Smeck also used with his band. Basil -- The standard Gibson numbering practice was to use the factory order number, preceded by a letter: 1935 was 'A' and 1936 was 'B'. It would appear that the E-150s didn't fall into that scheme. But Gruhn's Guide is my only source of information. Princeton serial numbers are distinguished by the prefix “A”. This example is number 158, an early serial number for a Fender guitar! The Princeton was the least expensive of a three-model line, but the differences in the instruments were relatively minor.
